A pair of client implementations bring Helios care management to clients from the Midwest and New York City.
This summer marked a significant milestone for two organizations completing their Helios® deployments within weeks of one another. Iowa-based Medical Associates Health Plans (MAHP) launched Helios Care Management (CM) on July 1, followed by CAIPA (the Coalition of Asian-American Independent Practice Association) on July 15.
Each organization brings a distinct profile:
- MAHP is a Midwest health plan consolidating its clinical operations onto a unified platform (read the press release).
- CAIPA is a physician-led IPA connecting a network of more than 1,500 providers across the greater New York area (read the press release).
Each deployment was delivered on time or ahead of schedule. Early scope definition, strong client engagement, and a delivery team that brings precision and focus to every launch are the hallmarks of Elligint Health’s implementation approach, and this summer’s results reflect that commitment. Meeting or exceeding expected delivery milestones means that clients gain timely access to the tools and insights that help care teams deliver better outcomes for the members they serve.
For our clients, deployment is just the beginning. MAHP is already preparing for its Helios Utilization Management (UM) go-live, which will complete its full CM/UM transformation on the platform. CAIPA has completed implementation and are positioned to build on the workflows and configurations their teams developed — translating that groundwork into more efficient processes for their users. Meet Katie Nieto, Director, Implementations
A unique career path — from classroom teacher to healthcare IT leader — it gives Katie an unusually well-rounded approach to enterprise implementation.
Katie Nieto will be the first to tell you that a degree in British Literature and Professional Writing is not an obvious on-ramp to healthcare IT — but in hindsight, the path makes perfect sense. After college she became a middle school language arts teacher, managing what she describes as “a million little stakeholders who are 12, 13, and 14 years old.” Accountable to students, parents, the school, the district, and the state simultaneously, the experience taught her early how to manage competing priorities, communicate across diverse audiences, and stay relentlessly focused on outcomes. From teaching, she moved into Salesforce consulting, then to Centene/WellCare where she first implemented Helios®, then to Optum’s genomics department where she worked on precision medicine initiatives — all before deciding she wanted to return to the Helios team. In her two and a half years at Elligint Health, she has led sine of the company’s most complex deployments, delivering results that have set the standard for how Elligint Health handles implementations.
As Director, Implementations, Katie leads full-cycle enterprise deployments of the Helios® platform, managing cross-functional teams and serving as the primary point of contact for client and executive stakeholders from sales handoff through go-live and to enable clients for long-term success. Her approach to implementation is built on a few core principles:
Communication — proactive, transparent communication eliminates surprises and keeps clients confident throughout even the most complex deployments.
Beginning with the end in mind — defining success criteria not just for go-lives but for individual milestones and meetings, so that every step builds toward the right outcome.
Staying ahead of the risk — when a recent state-level policy change affected a client’s program scope mid-implementation, Katie’s team quickly identified what to keep in motion and what to pause, ensuring the client will be ready to move seamlessly when circumstances change.
Seeing the forest for the trees — maintaining the big-picture view even when competing internal priorities are stacking up against deadlines.
“The better you are at communicating,” she says, “the less you have to put on a status report, and the fewer surprises your clients will ever have to face.” Outside of work, Katie teaches a multitude of group fitness classes, where she continues to refine the same skill she relies on most professionally: walking into a high-stakes situation confidently and making sure everyone walks out better prepared than when they arrived.
