Driving Efficiency with UM 3.0
Less clicking and scrolling, more caring
Elligint Health is excited to roll out Helios® Utilization Management (UM) 3.0 — a comprehensive set of enhancements designed to make UM workflows faster, smarter, and more intuitive. At a time when care teams are being asked to do more with less, UM 3.0 delivers automation and streamlined navigation that reduce administrative burden and frees up time for what matters most: member care.
In testing, UM 3.0 has consistently cut time from daily workflows, reducing extra clicks and scrolling while eliminating the need to open multiple windows. The result: users can work more efficiently, handle higher caseloads, and focus on complex clinical decisions rather than navigating the platform.
Key Enhancements at a Glance
Smarter Navigation
- A new Utilization icon accessible from the top navigation bar and consistent left-side menu for relevant processes make key functions like authorizations, appeals, grievances, events, and savings easier to find.
 - The Status Summary bar at the top of the form and collapsible sections put essential information front and center — no more scrolling through long forms to find the section you need.
 - Users can jump to any section of a form using a built-in Table of Contents.

A built-in table of contents quickly jumps end users to sections of interest without the need to scroll.
Faster Task Management
- A new Quick Assignment utility allows bulk or single-click form reassignment.
 - Custom Queues support tailored work lists by role or lifecycle stage, with instant visibility into workload via count badges.
 - Watchers keep stakeholders informed on specific cases without requiring ownership.

Streamlined Data Access
- In-Screen Previews and Line-level Side Panels let users view member and service details without losing their place and can be repositioned according to user preference.

Moveable data panels in-screen views provide end users with relevant information without having to leave the form, while a dedicated top menu icon and side menu enable rapid access to various aspects of UM.
- Using our Redesigned Filters 2.0, users can save, edit, and quickly retrieve common search criteria, eliminating repetitive setup.

Making UM 3.0 Work for You
UM 3.0 is now available in user acceptance testing (UAT) environments, and starting November 4, clients can enable it in their Helios production environments.
We believe UM 3.0 will help your organization save time, reduce administrative friction, and increase care team throughput. To learn how these enhancements can support your team’s unique workflows, please contact your Account Manager.

Understanding the Impact of Rising Healthcare Costs on Affordability
Rising healthcare costs challenge both members and payers
Healthcare costs continue to strain the affordability of care for many Americans — even those with insurance. According to a recent article by the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), nearly half of U.S. adults report difficulty affording health care costs, and one in four have experienced problems paying for care in the past year. This financial pressure often leads individuals to delay or forgo necessary treatments, resulting in worsened health outcomes.
The burden of high costs is not equally distributed. Uninsured adults are far more likely to report difficulty affording care compared to those with insurance. Yet even insured individuals are not immune — many struggle with premiums and deductibles, and some postpone or skip care because of cost concerns.
For payers, these affordability challenges highlight the need to develop strategies that balance cost management with access to care. Addressing financial barriers can improve health outcomes and reduce the long-term costs associated with untreated conditions. Innovative approaches that align cost containment with high-quality, accessible care will be essential going forward.
As health care spending continues to rise, proactive measures are critical to keep care affordable and accessible. By prioritizing affordability, payers can play a pivotal role in improving the health and well-being of the populations they serve.
Elligint Health’s platform, Helios, helps organizations identify opportunities to improve efficiency, manage costs, and support better care delivery. It does this by bringing together data from siloed sources, building configurable workflows and assessments that reduce administrative burden and drive better member outcomes, and enabling extended functionality through our large ecosystem of partners.
